What about Buglary, UL & Insurance ratings?  What do they mean?

Whereas insurance classifications have been stagnant for many years, the UL listings are dynamic and are constantly adjusting to new opening techniques and tools.

A rating of TL-15 or TL-30, for example, signifies a combination-locked safe desgned to offer a moderate degree of protection against attack by common mechanical and electrical hand tools and any combination of these means.

Successfully resisted entry for a net working time of 15 or 30 minutes when attacked with common hand tool, picking tools, mechanical or portable electric tools, grinding points, carbide drills and pressure applying devices or mechanisms, abrasive cutting wheels and power saws.

Tl-15

How do I know what is the appropriate level of security for my needs?

This is a judgement call which will depend on the value of the contents and the amount of risk to burglary to which one is exposed.  Additionally, is fire protection important, such as in paperwork and data media?  Answers to these issues will tend to direct one to proper security level and the corresponding safe(s) for the needs.

Additionally, insurance companies will often make recommendations for coverage values.

What about fire safe ratings?

Our fire-resistive safes meet or exceed Underwriters Laboratories specifications.

One-hour exposure to severe fire with a temperature of 1700 F shows safe's interior temperature does not exceed 350 F(paper chars at 405 F).

How does a fire safe work?

A fire safe is a storage container for water.  The insulation material in it chemically holds water in significant volume.  When exposed to fire, that moisture is driven off as steam, which saturates the inside of the safe and mainstains the internal temperature to a theoretical 212 degrees Farenheit.  This is an effective and proven method of protecting valuables and documents, but it must be recognized that the contents of a fire safe will be saturated with water.  Moisture sensitive items, such aspaper and magnetic media, should be kept in air tight containers for full protection.

How much fire protection do I need?

Statistically, urban residential fires are under control and extinguished within thiry minutes, with temperatures rarely exceeding 1000 degrees F where a safe might be placed.  Fire safes are tested and listed to extreme conditions, assuming worst case rural infernos without firefighter intervention for extended periods of time.  (See fire safe ratings above)

Why should I get a factory safe combination?

These combinations are maintained by the manufacturer in a secure system and are not available to the public.  The manufacturer will only give out a combination to a registered ALOA, SAVTA,  or factory certified technician.  Combinations will not be given out to anyone that cannot identify themselves as a recognized technician.

Are there advantages to having an Electronic Lock?

Electronic locks have far longer life spans then mechanical locks                     4.Push buttons make it practical for the vision-impaired and handicapped               5. Better security, with manipulation resistance in the software and advanced design                                                             6. Special features such as time delay, multiple users, duress alarm, dual control and many other complex safety modules
